How to download JW Player videos [Updated: March 2024]

There are millions of hours of video hosted on JW Player. And that’s hardly the most impressive stat about the JW Player, which has been the go-to destination for hosting tutorials, movies, and personal videos since 2007. That said, at times, you really want to have one of those videos on your own computer or your mobile phone so that you can watch it later offline.

Downloading JW Player videos are also helpful if you have a mobile data plan with a restricted data allowance. You can download them to your mobile phone using your home Wi-Fi, and watch them on the move without risking going beyond your data allocation.

So what happens when you stumble across a JW Player video but don’t have the time to watch it or you want to watch the video without buffering, even I face this problem because of my slow internet (LOL). So it is better to download the video and then watch it without any buffering or lag.

Disclaimer: As long as you’re downloading a video for your own personal offline use, you’re probably good. Read the policy of the website from where you’re downloading the videos.

You must have tried many other tutorials but most of the tutorials out there are outdated and don’t work. It’s surprisingly easy to download JW Player videos, and there are lots of reasons to give this method a try.

Now, the JW player stores the videos in small segments and there are a thousand such segments (depending on the video length), so it is practically impossible to download all these small segments and then combine these segments together.

Internet Download Manager (IDM) is also a good choice but it downloads the JW Player videos in .ts format which cannot be played on most of the devices so you’ll need separate software to convert the .ts video to .mp4 video. Also, IDM is a paid software 🙁

How to Download JW Player Video

1. Right-click anywhere on the screen and select inspect element
2. Click on the Network tab
3. In the search box, type mp4
4. Now refresh the page
5. Download the software
6. Copy the link and paste it into the downloaded software
7. Click on the download button

That’s it! You’re all set to watch JW player videos offline.

Unfortunately, there is no software that can download the videos directly as we do for YouTube videos. This is because JW Player video is stored in multiple small segments hence, most online downloaders cannot download JW Player videos.
